The restoration of textiles involves the actual re-weaving or replacement of the fabric, embroidery, beadwork or other embellishments. The decision to restore or conserve an object should be considered on an individual basis. Functional textiles, such as carpets or quilts that are still in use, are generally restored, while historic and museum pieces are generally conserved.
